Winter weather always causes problems with travel, but it seems that this year snow storms have wreaked havoc on air travel. How can you avoid being one of those travelers forced to spend the night in an uncomfortable airport chair?
1. Nonstop is Best: Direct flights are always more convenient, but they can also help you avoid additional delays. Your chances of something going wrong increase with each stop you make. If you must make a connection, allow some time in between flights just in case your first flight gets delayed.
2. Stay Away: In the middle of winter, avoid places more prone to snowstorms such as Denver or Chicago – stick with Houston or Dallas, if you can. In the summer, avoid the Gulf States which are more prone to hurricanes.
3. Stay Informed: Most travel management companies, including Safe Harbors, will get in touch with you if there is a problem with your flight. Make sure that your travel profile is updated with your contact information, including cell phone numbers.
4. Plan B: In case something was to go wrong, be aware of alternate cities and airports.
