Since the dawn of humanity, man has looked to the sky and dreamed of escaping his earth-bound existence to join the birds in a world that, for most of our history, was inaccessible to us. All of our classic works contain references to a desire to fly - it's a dream crossing cultural, religious, as well as ethnic divides (the Bible as well as the Koran refer to flying as a type of freedom). Flight as a dream is used in the composition of thousands of songs and poems.

As far back as the 16th century, the artist and genius Leonardo da Vinci developed a sketch of a machine that he thought would allow humans to achieve their dream of flight. The Wright brothers themselves were working from the platforms which came from other flight machine inventors, and well before Leonardo's time his spirit was flying free (more than three hundred years before the brothers turned his vision into reality).

Freedom Through Flight

It seems hard to believe, but people have really only been flying in planes for just over a century. But look at all the amazing advances we have made in that time! Airplanes now come in all shapes and sizes. Best of all, flight is not limited to just a few people with the know-how and the opportunity; today flight lessons are available to everyone, and are more than affordable.

Flying, as the poet said, allows you to "break the surly bonds of earth" and touch the sky. Forget the stress of other drivers, and traffic, and frequent stopping. It is just you and your instruments up there in the air.

Forming a New Perspective on Life

Being by yourself, in the heavens, is just one of the up sides of flying. Many people are denied seeing the world from a different perspective, but you will enjoy flying far above the landscape, and looking at large spans of undeveloped country, or enjoying views that you can't access by land. You'll see things in ways that those stuck on the surface will never even imagine.

While many may feel that, due to either cost or a lack of skill, achieving personal flight is something that is beyond them, gaining access to flight may be easier than you think. Affordable lessons are widely available. Whether or not you can pay for a plane of your own, you will discover many rental options available all over the country.

What is stopping you from experiencing the freedom of flight? Flying your own aircraft is better than ever, with today's technology. You'll surely find flying to be a most exhilarating experience!
