It is now the middle of March and for those of us who are fair weather campers the season will be here soon. As we begin to think and plan our camping there are a few things we should do now so that we are ready
to go.
1. Break out the tent and set it up in the backyard. Check for holes/tears etc. and seal the seams. This also provides a good chance to check over the poles for damage and ensure you have enough stakes.
2. Campstoves. Do you use one? If so time to give it a good cleaning. Make sure everything works correctly.
3. Get the sleeping bags out and hang them outside. Let them air out. Lubricate the zippers and make sure they all work.
4. Check your first-aid kit!(you do carry one!) Make sure it is fully stocked. A good first aid kit well stocked with bandaids, antiseptic, pain releavers, burn creams etc. can make a difference between staying at camp or an early exit. First-Aid Product.com sells kits designed for camping at decent prices.
5. Make sure your chuckbox is stocked and ready to go. Pans clean? Dutch ovens. Plenty of utensils. BTW...Get one of those fold flat colanders(as seen on tv) they work great for camping.
Time is growing short and the days are growing long. Camping season is here. See you around the campfire!
